May 1: Renewed Consecration of Diocese to Mary

During this time of pandemic and in conjunction with bishops across the USA and Canada, Bishop Johnston will renew consecration of the diocese to Mary, Mother of the Church at 2 pm May 1 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Check the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Facebook page at 2 pm May 1 for a live-stream!

These past few weeks have disrupted the normal flow of everyone’s ordinary life.  Things that we probably took for granted like children going to school, being able to travel freely, visit friends, attend public events, attending Mass are all gone.  Many people have lost their jobs, those who are able to are working from homemany have become ill, and most are uncertain about how many more will contract the virus and become seriously sick or die.  It is a natural human response to be afraid and anxious.  Difficult times like this highlight the heart of the Good News, that faith in Our Father who provides for us always, and especially in times of need, is our cause for hope.  Discipleship is nothing more or less than living in this faith and hope and sharing it with others through acts of charity and telling them about the love of God.
