Statement regarding St. James Parish
We were notified this morning when he did not show up for Mass that Fr. Evan Harkins, Pastor at St. James Parish and Parochial Administrator at St. Patrick’s Parish in St. Joseph, had apparently taken his own life.
In the face of this devastatingly tragic news, we ask that you pray for Fr. Harkins, his family, and the parish and school communities that he served as well as all of our priests.
Funeral Arrangements for Fr. Evan Harkins
Visitation: Friday January 31, 3-8 pm with 6 pm Rosary at St. James Parish, St. Joseph (5815 Pryor Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64504)
Funeral Mass: Saturday February 1, 10 am at St. Therese, Parkville (7207 NW Highway 9, Kansas City, MO 64152)
Graveside service: Saturday February 1, 12 noon at Mt Olivet Cemetery (7601 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64138)
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
