Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service Launched

To report an incident of sexual misconduct involving a bishop of the United States and/or a bishop’s interference in a sexual abuse investigation, please contact the Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service (CBAR) at or call (800) 276-1562.

The third-party reporting system is provided by Convercent, Inc., a commercial vendor of ethics reporting services. CBAR gathers and relays reports to the proper Church authorities for investigation. When a report includes a crime—such as abuse of a minor—it will also be reported to civil authorities. Otherwise, reports are confidential.

If you have reasonable cause to suspect sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult, you must call:

  1. The Missouri Child Abuse Hotline at 1.800.392.3738, if the victim is under the age of 18
  2. The Missouri Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1.800.392.0210, if the victim is a vulnerable adult
  3. Local law enforcement or 911 if you believe the person is in immediate danger

If you wish to report sexual abuse by a priest, deacon, religious brother or sister, or layperson working for the Church, please contact our Independent Ombudsman Joe Crayon at or (816) 812-2500, and our Victim Assistance Coordinator Kathleen Chastain at or (816) 392-0011.
