Welcome to the Office of Sacred Worship!
We are privileged to be here for your needs as the liturgical resource for our Diocese, to help you celebrate the Sacred Liturgy as the Church intends.
It is in the Sacred Liturgy that the Church comes together to worship Almighty God, as he commands. And through our full active proper participation within the liturgical action that we participate in the Paschal mystery itself and receive grace. This grace assist us on our journey to our eternal home with the Almighty in the new Jerusalem.
St. Pope John Paul the Great stated in the preamble of his Instruction on the Eucharist
“it is the right of all Christ’s faithful that the liturgy, and in particular the celebration of Holy Mass, should truly be as the Church wishes, according to her stipulations as prescribed in the liturgical books and in the other laws and norms.”
The Church’s liturgy is given to us in tradition— it is not for us to make up the rights we celebrate or to change them to suit ourselves our own ideas, beyond the legitimate options permitted by the liturgical books. This is according to his Eminence Cardinal Sarah, appointed by Pope Francis as Prefect for the Congregation of Divine Worship.
To fulfill our role as the liturgical resource you will find a lot of information on this website and a lot of links to additional information concerning the Church’s Sacred Liturgy.
We are here for you and to assist you in any way possible to fulfill your needs. Please visit the site often as we do add additional information as it either becomes available or that is pertinent to the particular time or season of the year. Of course particular questions may be e-mailed directly to me at Wehner@diocesekcsj.org
May God bless you and yours.
