SUMMARY:March 20-21: 24 Hours For the Lord
DESCRIPTION:8:15 am March 20 to 8:15 am March 21: Mir House of Prayer (6492 MO-6\, St Joseph\, Mo.) \n8:45 am March 20 to 8:15 am March 21: St. Thomas More Parish in Kansas City\, Mo. (11822 Holmes Rd\, Kansas City\, Mo.) \nMARCH 26 CITY-WIDE CONFESSIONS: A city wide opportunity for confessions on March 26 from 3 pm – 7 pm at all the parishes in St. Joseph\, Mo.:  Cathedral\, St. Francis\, St. James\, St. Mary’s\, St. Patrick’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe. \nIn response to the 24 Hours for the Lord initiative\, the Office of Divine Worship is co-sponsoring 24 hours of adoration and confessions with Mir House of Prayer in St. Joseph\, Mo. and St. Thomas More Parish in Kansas City\, Mo. \nThe 24 Hours for the Lord initiative was first launched in 2014 by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization. This year’s theme is taken from Luke 7:48: ‘Your sins are forgiven’. \nIn his 2018 Lenten message\, Pope Francis invited the entire Church to “celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation in the context of Eucharistic adoration”. \n“Lent summons us\, and enables us\, to come back to the Lord wholeheartedly and in every aspect of our life\,” the pontiff said. \n“Above all\, I urge the members of the Church to take up the Lenten journey with enthusiasm\, sustained by almsgiving\, fasting and prayer. If\, at times\, the flame of charity seems to die in our own hearts\, know that this is never the case in the heart of God! He constantly gives us a chance to begin loving anew.” \nThe pope also desired that at least one church in each diocese around the world to remain open for twenty-four consecutive hours\, offering an opportunity for both Eucharistic adoration and sacramental confession. \nIf you are interested in covering an adoration hour\, please contact Lorie Sage in the Office of Divine Worship via email. \nPDF: 24 Hours for the Lord Flyer (2020) \n\nResources/Recursos \nExaminations of Conscience \nHow to go to Confession/Como Confesarse \nActs of Contrition/Acto de Contrición \nUSCCB’s resource page on Confession
